We had a challenging situation because our gate is located blocks from our home/electricity. We also have tons of shade at the gate, so solar wouldn't work. We were apparently the first ones to try their suggestion about using batteries (car). We have two with one kept on the trickle charger, and figured out when to switch out the batteries. It has worked very well for us (and we didn't have to spend around $6K to put a transformer at the gate). The gate itself has also worked perfectly! We've been very happy with the entire process.
