The company was founded in 1959 in Cincinnati by Ray Dennis, a P.E. from the University of Cincinnati’s Engineering College. Ray designed and sold engineered fire suppression systems for clients such as AK Steel and Ford. In 1973 Ray sold his six-employee business to Silco, owned by the Fraser family. Fire extinguishers soon became a large portion of Silco’s business as OSHA mandated their presence in the workplace. Lines of business expanded into commercial cooking fire protection systems and fire alarms. Sprinkler and fire pump services would follow. Silco is a family-owned and managed business with the third and fourth generation of family ownership active and passionately involved in the business. Ownership also strives to create a family culture for its over 250 employees. Over 25,000 customers in Ohio trust Silco to install, service, monitor, and inspect their Fire Protection and Security equipment. Silco is one of a few companies in the country that can service virtually all fire and security equipment in-house without subcontracting. 

Silco has an extensive Environmental Health & Safety Program. Safety is considered and stressed in everything we do.
